Les Bains Douches
Deux baigneuses
Claire Tabouret

In a custom-made stone basin designed for the building’s alcove, Tabouret has added her Deux Baigneuses, which uses the classical artistic trope of women bathing.

In her figurative paintings, drawings, and sculptures, Claire Tabouret explores identity, focussing on childhood and its enigmas.

This bronze sculpture depicts two female figures: one is seated, while the other stands, resting her arm complicitly on the first girl’s shoulder. Their striped bathing suits give them a vintage, summery air. Tabouret places the viewer in a story that is at once strange and familiar, offering visitors the impression of being part of a tale, while also being external to it. In doing so, it provokes a brief moment of introspection – one of simple contemplation.

Claire Tabouret was born in Pertuis in 1981. She lives and works in Los Angeles.
She is represented by Almine Rech (Paris), Perrotin (Hong Kong) and Night Gallery (Los Angeles).
