At the heart of the vegetable garden known as the Potager de la Cantine, Lilian Bourgeat adds his comic and allegorical vision of a garden farmer who forgot one of his tools after a hard day’s work: a pair of rubber boots.
Everyday subjects and encounters with unique situations form the heart of Lilian ourgeat’s work. His hyperrealist (yet larger-than-life) objects sit on the border separating functionality from excess.
Now a permanent fixture of Le Potager de la cantine, this pair of two neglected right-foot boots – three metres (10 feet) tall, size 2 000, and destined to live forever in the “invendu” (or “unsold”) bin – seem to have been left there by a green giant, inviting visitors to construct a new narrative of a contemporary tale.
LILIAN BOURGEAT WAS BORN IN 1970 IN SAINT-CLAUDE (FRANCE). HE LIVES AND WORKS IN DIJON.
HE IS REPRESENTED BY GALLERY LANGE + PULT, ZURICH (SWITZERLAND).
It’s in the Cantine!
Nantes is transforming
Nantes is changing to become an even more ecological, inclusive, and dynamic city. To do this, new public works will reinforce our already existing ecofriendly modes of transport: new tram lines, green zones for pedestrians and cyclists, and more. From 2024, these major urban projects will disrupt traffic around Les Machines de l’Île and Parc des Chantiers, with the Pont Anne-de-Bretagne bridge closed off to cars (the bridge will remain accessible to pedestrians and cyclists). Solutions will be offered throughout construction to make it easier for everyone to get around, like: increased frequency of several public transport lines, more Naolib bike-share bicycles, and more parking spots in park-and-ride lots.
