In his playful works, the artist questions the relationship between man and nature
Sébastien Gouju is a sculptor. In his playful works, he questions the relationship between man and nature. Gouju brings his comical nature to this garden, which is home to a rare specimen of Araucaria – also known as a “monkey’s despair” in French. In a nod to this unusual name, the artist has created some 40 pieces of metalwork featuring primates. These representatives of the jungle dialogue with this totemic tree from a colonial past, which was introduced to Europe for its exotic allure.
Sébastien Gouju was born in 1978 and lives and works in Paris. He is represented by galerie Semiose (Paris).
