Michel Blazy works with the living and the random. The unexpected and a laissez- faire attitude are at the heart of his work, where he often showcases nature’s ability to spread and take over everything in its path.
Water is omnipresent in Blazy’s work, so it’s no surprise that he naturally turned to the monumental fountain in the middle of Place Royale. Hand-in-hand with the engineer in charge of the fountain’s maintenance all year round, Michel Blazy has endeavoured to alter its capacities and the way the fountain works. Random malfunction, rerouted trajectories, redirected jets, along with omnipresent spills and fog provide a unique experience of public space, where fountains are usually appreciated for their continuous rhythm and the constant, reassuring flow of water they provide.
