YUHSIN U CHANG

Yuhsin U Chang’s sculptures explore the poetics of living things. Inspired by a tree in Square Maurice-Schwob, Chang calculated the diameter it could reach by the end of its growth cycle and transformed this information into a sculpture. Taking hypothetical “slices” of the tree, she reveals its growth rings, projecting us into a sort of living time that extrapolates long, unhindered growth. This large, surreal drawing-sculpture attempts to embody the artist’s hypothesis about the future.

Do not climb the sculpture.

Yuhsin U Chang was born in Taiwan in 1980. She lives and works between Paris and Bruc-sur-Aff.
